Bethany walked in wearing her statement-blue blouse — chin up, confidence high — expecting a warm welcome.

Sharra was already seated.

And not just anywhere.

She had taken Bethany’s seat.

The seat Bethany always sat in. The seat closest to Larry.

Bethany froze, her eyes narrowing.
Sharra didn’t move. Didn’t apologize. Didn’t even look up.

Larry swallowed hard. He already sensed fire.

Bethany cleared her throat loudly.

Bethany:
“Sharra, sweetheart… you’re in my seat.”

“You think everyone needs your permission to breathe!

Sharra slammed her hand on the table.

Sharra:
“At least I’m not losing Larry’s respect because of my attitude!”

Bethany’s jaw dropped.

Bethany lunged forward.

Sharra took a step too.

You both should be ashamed.”

Bethany’s eyes watered.
Sharra looked away, shoulders tense.

Larry continued, voice lower but colder:

Larry:
“From now on… NO ONE has a ‘special seat.’
Not Bethany, not Sharra.
We’re starting over.
If you can’t handle sharing space—
you don’t belong at this table.”

The entire table went silent.

Even the air felt frozen.

Bethany blinked in shock.

Sharra’s mouth slowly fell open.

Neither expected Larry to choose neutral ground…
and threaten to remove both of them from the table.
